The Cygnet Folk Festival has developed a reputation as one of the premier cultural events in Tasmania's arts calendar. Every year over three days, the people of Cygnet present a tremendous variety of music, dance and related arts featuring local and international guest artists.

Palais Theatre, FRANKLIN

Categories will include decorated hats, individual flowers and a photography competition. Featuring dahlia and gladioli displays, the show is a wonderful floral exhibit for all to admire. Refreshments, lucky door prize and raffle will be available. Stalls will be available for sale of plants.

All around the Valley

Every year hundreds of thousands of Australians help clean up their local environment on Clean Up Australia Day. It's fun, easy and everyone can take part. Individuals and local groups can either organise a clean up site or volunteer to join an existing site.

This regatta is now the largest keel boat regatta in Tasmania with entries exceeding 80 boats. Catering will be provided for dinner on Saturday and Sunday, lunch on Sunday and breakfast on Sunday and Monday. Dinghy transport to shore will be provided.

Ranelagh Recreation Ground, RANELAGH

This annual event celebrates teh diversity of produce from the Huon Valley, D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island areas. There will be food stalls, new events, cookery demonstrations using local produce and entertainment from local artists and musicians. Come and feast on some mouth-watering treats.

The Huon Tasmanian Salmon Port Esperance Race event consists of three race series for both keel-boats and dinghies culminating in the William Jackson Memorial Cup and BK Price Trophy races respectively. There will also be events for classic yachts of yesteryear and cruisers. Onshore activities include music and entertainment on the nights of Saturday and Sunday as well as fine food and drinks.

Heritage Park, GEEVESTON

The aim of the event is to showcase the forest industry, its employees and associated businesses. 2008 will see Tasmania's International Chainsaw Carving Grand Prix commence on Saturday 29th as well as a 60 minute speed carve. The popular ute muster will be included in Sunday's activities.

The St James College School Fair is all about food, fun and entertainment. Try your luck at the chocolate wheel, raffles and games. In conjunction, Messages On Canvas is an exhibition of Aboriginal artworks that will be on display in the Carmel Hall from the 19th - 22nd October 2007.

Burtons Reserve Open Day, CYGNET

Burtons Reserve Open Day provides an opportunity for Cygnet residents, from young and old, to enjoy pony rides, jumping castle, games, Council's Youth Services caravan, free sausage sizzle and much, much, more. SETAC will also play a major role providing an opportunity for people to interact with some reptiles, free face painting, a health expo and health check.

Ranelagh Showground, RANELAGH

Entertainment will include chainsaw carving, reptile display, ute show, vintage machinery, dog high jump, country music bands, plus a full range of carnival attractions. Cattle and other animals including draft horses, sheep, alpacas, cavies, cats and dairy goats will be on display.

Cygnet Recreation Ground, CYGNET

Make your way to the Wood Chopping Arena and enjoy the action of one of the Huon's traditional sports. 16 events will be contested during the day including 'standing', 'underhand', 'tree-felling', 'sawing' and 'chainsaw racing', a popular event with both competitors and spectators. There will also be a 'boy's chop' for under 18 year olds to encourage young axemen learning the sport. A lunchtime BBQ will be available.
